Firstly, the ball was held at mid autumn = very cold, but girls still wear the shortest dresses ever and stay outside in the wind without any jacket or scarf. Even I fell to peer pressure and left my jacket behind (but mostly cause it was too bulky and the hall was going to be heated).
Secondly, we went there in buses. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT, BUSES! Imagine everyone dressed to the nines, standing on the pavement, waiting to board the bus. Crazy or what! If that wasn't absurd enough, since it was a masquerade ball, some people thought it would be funny to blow photos of their friend's faces to actual size, print them out, and wear their friend's face as their mask (actually that happens every event, but I really did not expect them to wear that to a masquerade ball!). One guy even wore this insanely big hat that was so shiny that he reminded me of a walking disco ball (if you want me to explain the type of hat he was wearing, think of those Jamacaian jelly fishes in Shark Tales).
After waiting in the cold for ages and enduring the bumpy bus ride (we did take photos in the bus but I would not put them up because we all look horrible in it. heh).
I forgot to mention, even before the foods were served, most people are already high on alcohol and they were DOMINATING the dance floor. Apparently, this girl was so into it that she had a nip slip. O_O.
At the end of the night, some girls were so drunk that ONE PARTICULARLY OVERWEIGHT GIRL STUMBLED ACROSS THE ROAD TO CATCH THE BUS AND TROD ON MY TOE. ARRRGH. That gave me a fine bruise. -_-. One girl even dropped like a fly outside the hotel and gave all of us a scare. She was just too wasted.
Quite an experience I'd say. Not sure if I want to do it again though.
