Most Hectic Week of Sem 1, 2009
was definitely... this week. -_-. I was loaded with so much work that I just locked myself up in my room till the extent that a friend asked if I secretly flew back to Malaysia. O_o.
I think I am having trouble sleeping lately because a) my stomach starts growling at freaking 12 am when I have already brushed teeth etc. -___-. b) no bolster. T_T. I keep getting hungry here it's not even funny anymore (mostly cause I can't think of stuff that can be stocked in my room and I like variety hoho).
Anyway, on a lighter note,
My FIRST ever bottle of champagne.
Heehee. The most amazing thing? Beer, champagne, wine and soft drinks were on the house until a certain limit. You're looking at the last bottle of champagne in the bar for that night. =D =D =D =D.

The World is My Oyster
Lately, I have been feeling really lucky. I won't say that I have the perfect life (cause that's impossible, duh!), but I can quite safely say that I am having a pretty good one right now. During camp, I came to learn a lot of things and one was that I am ONLY NINETEEN (there are a lot of other philosophical self realisation but I am really too lazy to type it out now). I swear it didn't hit me until someone asked me how old was I. I replied, saying that I was turning 20 this year and to my surprise, the other person said...
"Only turning 20 this year? Lucky you".
And that's when I truly realise that you know what? I am only 19 and there are soo many things for me to accomplish! Sure, studies are important but honestly, it's not my main priority right now. I would say living life is my motto at the moment. The key is to strike that delicate balance. Honestly, why mope or stress when there are so many wonderful things out there? In retrospect, most of my problems are so petty compared to the real sorrows that some people have to face. And you know what? I am just feeling really blessed these days. =). Sue me!
Just a couple of things that amuse me.
Caramel sundae. *drools*. I have no idea why haven't I try any caramal sundaes before.
Nikes rock. =D. It wasn't intentional I swear. We were just about to grab our shoes before heading back to class when we noticed this.
What can I say? The world is my oyster.
"Only turning 20 this year? Lucky you".

Moomba Waterfest (07.03.2009)
Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been really really busy... being in Melbourne. =D. Now that I am having my Easter break, I'll TRY to blog more ok? Especially since new events keep coming up and now I am only blogging about an event that happened.. 1.5 months ago... -.-.
Anyway, after Parliament, Wina told me about Moomba Waterfest and how I MUST watch the fireworks so I went to Google it up and apparently this is quite a big festival. If you really want to know you can just wikipedia it. Everything you need to know about Moomba is written there. I think one really amazing thing about Melbourne that there is ALWAYS something on? For instance, if you just head over to Fed Square every weekend, I am sure there will be some kind of event going on there, but so far the rest of the events were not on such a big scale as Moomba's (note the word: so far...).
Moomba Waterfest actually runs for 3 days and for practical reasons, we decided to go on Saturday even though the float parades and air show will only happen on Sunday. Sigh. They even posted up itineraries for the event online so that just goes to show how big this event is in Melbourne.
HAHAHAHA, what can I say, I like tall people. =D. And their costumes and face paintings were so nice anyway.
Walking from Crown Plaza towards Fed Square. You're now looking at Yarra River. Talking about walking there... the rest were too lazy and just wanted to wait for a tram while Cheri, Victor and I were saying, COME ON IT'S JUST A FEW BLOCKS DOWN THE ROAD! So the three of us walked while the rest waited for the tram. And this is really shitty but their tram came only after a couple of seconds and they ended up waving at us from the tram. -____-.
No kidding, EVERYONE WINS! And you know why?
They just needed to take a stick and pull a duck out. The size of your prize will be determined by the number under your duck. In my opinion, it's more like paying for your prize (since you have to pay to play) but these games made the kids really happy so I guess it isn't that pointless after all? =P.
I thought this game was quite funny. What you need to do was squirt water at this particular spot to push your fire truck forward. The catch? You target is constantly moving so obviously adults usually win this game. Then they'll pass their prize to their kid obviously. AWWWW...
Besides the games, they were also having this water skiing competition. I wasn't interested. I just sat around and bummed like an Australian. =D.
And earlier that day, we actually found 5 dollars on the ground when we were walking to Bridge Road so we used it to buy food. HEEHEE, I love Pods seriously.
They also had this HUMONGOUS SLIDE. IT LOOKED AWESOME and I was really this close to getting on it, but my other friends said it was lame so I said it was lame too. *twiddles thumb*. HAHA!
Credits to Cheri.
The science and engineering people.
I am in it now!
Even though I have been in Melbourne for slightly more than 2 months, the sunsets here still awes me. Really.
We found this sign particularly funny. Hehee.
Then night came, and the city is still as gorgeous. =).

Basically, Moomba Waterfest is just this huge carnival so you'll get to see things like this at the children's zone.

Easter 2009
Was awesome, babeh! I had so much chocolate and good food (beef rendang, babeh) I actually gained weight (cause my waist cincher won't fit anymore).
And this? Was beyond words. Serious. There's nothing like seeing it with your own eyes, and being awed by the fact that all of these are formed naturally. =).
Camp was awesome and amazing too but I'll blog about it... when I feel like it. Hoho.

Easter in Australia
Easter in Australia is DAMN AWESOME. It hasn't even arrive but I have been given a lot of Easter chocolate eggs. =D =D =D.
Like today, we had this quiz in the morning, and that really dampened my spirits because I had to stay back in Clayton over the weekend instead of going to the city. I really L-O-V-E the city ok! So anyway, I'll spare you the details of me stoning in my room instead of studying because Genetics is a really really boring subject and go straight to the point. After our quiz today, our lecturer told us to help ourselves to Easter mini chocolate eggs and she just brandished a bowl full of chocolate with a smile. I didn't even know that she could smile until that moment no kidding! It was awesome. Being pure Malaysians, some of my friends took two chocolate. *cough*. I took one only ok! I try to assimilate into the culture here, and trust me, greedy is just not in the Australians' natures. Heck, you can even leave your bags containing your wallet and handphones out in an unlocked locker and nothing will go missing. =).
Later today, our Resident Advisor (for Stairway 8) gave us chocolates in her room. =))). Told ya, it's freaking awesome around here!
Btw, we're now only 2 hours ahead of Malaysia. On Sunday, daylight saving ended so we got to turn back the clocks by one hour. You should have seen some of the jakun people here.
Kev : Ming, you know how I always say that I wished I had more time in a day?! I was SOO happy when I got to turn the clock back one hour ok! HAHAHAHAA.
Me : -__-
Alexis : I was studying until 4 am yesterday, I wanted to die already, then I turned back the clock, and IT'S 3 AM AGAIN!!!
One of my neighbours went early for his lecture too. That was quite funny because I bumped into him when I was walking back from Uni, then I saw him again when I was walking back to Uni. HAHHAA.
Shit, feeling damn restless.

Melbourne City Tour (28.02.2009 & 1.03.2009)
Just as my title suggests, I am really procrastinating on my updates but work is piling up okAY! Can't wait for Easter. Will be heading to the Great Ocean Road.
*grins*.
Anyways, on the weekend before Uni started (wow, that felt so long ago, in fact, this is already my 7th week in Australia apparently), we decided to spend BOTH days in the city. =D
Saturday :
In front of our favourite train stop (Flinders Station), the St. Paul's Catheral. Looks majestic right? Wait until you see St. Patrick's Catheral. We were supposed to be snapping photos in there but what the heck, you'll get to see it soon. =D. If I keep up with updating regularly that is!
Kev and I met up with Soon Wen and Wina and WE WENT TO SMITH STREET. If you're planning to come to Melbourne to study, DON'T bring new sport shoes over here. Some shoes are so cheap, especially if you can fit into kids sizes. Can't wait for the real sales in June! Someone might need to tie me up with a leash. Heh.
On the way back, we saw the Parliament. Before this, we have been bugging Soon Wen EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. we were there to bring us here but he refused to cause he said : "What's there to see anyway!!!". So obviously to annoy him, we ran over to take photos... tourists ma! But nah seriously, the architecture of the building was so gorgeous that you just HAVE to take photos with it!
Victorian buildings are the bomb.
Seriously.
Come on, you guys HAVE to agree with me on this right!
Tsk, Soon Wen. Who was the one who said that they didn't want to come to the Parliament again!?
Wina and I. You guys are not going to believe this but for the past 7 weeks that I was here, I only met up with her ONCE! Lol.
Wah, lucky you, Kev! ;)
Even their lamps are so cool.
Ehehe, cause no one else wanted to pose with me. =(. I miss those crazy camwhores back in Malaysia, I really do.
My travelling companions of the day: Benjamin, Chieh Ai, Kev and Soon Wen.
Yen Ming, I bet you're laughing so hard at this picture now. Cause I find it funny too. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
We're at Docklands! I actually have a friend who owns a place in one of those buildings behind me. He said that he can see BOTH the sea and the river. Must be awesome to be rich. LOL.
Docklands is very big okAY!
Kev was so fascinated with the building that he kept saying that it will be super cool to be staying there. LOL.
One really interesting thing about Melbourne is that you'll get art pieces like this by the side of the road. If you guys can't even tell what this is, you guys should get your eyes examined. It's really a cow on a tree that you're seeing! Your eyes aren't deceiving you! And there is actually a plate stating the story behind this art piece but I can't remember the story by now already HEH.
*grins*.

Sunday...
Another long day at the City since Kev likes to travel there at you know... 7am. HAHAHA.
In fact, it was so early when we reached Docklands that we just stood there and shiver whenever the sea breeze blows at us.
Then we headed back to Flinders for this event called Melbourne Welcomes International Student. Thanks again Chu Jie for telling me about it!
This is where I took this now famous picture. *ahem*. This was the first event that I attended in Fed Square. However, I now learnt that there is ALWAYS something on at Fed Square. I have attended a couple already. =P.

The painter was sooo cool. She made those paintings to match your outfits and I thought that was so awesome! Chu Jie, why didn't we take a picture together! *frown*

Chu Jie, why didn't we take a picture together! *frown*I later went to find Midge and she was actually in the middle of moving her stuff into her new place and I ended up carrying this big box with this crazy big teddy bear on the tram with that painting on my face. I got A LOT of stares, most probably cause the teddy bear is like half my height. That was sooo funny. The sight of 4 girls lugging boxes and pails on trams would have make most people take a second look!
When I arrived back in Clayton, I thought people would be fascinated with my face painting (cause it's pretty no?)
Instead, I got reactions like...
"WHOA, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR FACE!" (sadly, someone did say that!)
"Permanent ah!"
"Omg what did you do to yourself?!"
